We’re looking for a dependable and proactive Assistant Branch Manager to join the team at our newly opened Lords Builders Merchants branch in Bicester. If you enjoy being hands-on, working closely with customers and colleagues, and keeping operations running smoothly, this is a great opportunity to take the next step in your career.

Working alongside the Branch Manager, you’ll support all areas of the branch — from sales and customer service to stock control, purchasing, and team coordination. You’ll play a key role in helping the branch grow, maintaining high standards, and ensuring a great experience for every customer.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Assist with daily branch operations and team supervision
  • Help manage stock, transport, and purchasing processes
  • Support the sales team and engage with customers to drive business growth
  • Maintain health & safety and company standards across the branch
  • Support staff development and performance, including HR administration
  • Handle admin duties such as cash reconciliation and banking
  • Contribute to excellent branch presentation and customer service

HOURS & BENEFITS

  • Hours: 7am–5pm Monday to Friday, 7am–12pm alternate Saturdays
  • Holiday: 21 days per year plus Bank Holidays
  • Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
  • Benefits: Discretionary bonus scheme

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a builders’ merchant environment
  • Strong communication, organisational, and leadership skills
  • A practical, team-oriented approach with a strong work ethic
  • Confidence to take initiative and support branch leadership
