We’re looking for an experienced Transport Manager to join our team at Lords Builders Merchants Putney. This is a key operational role for someone who enjoys responsibility, takes pride in running a safe and efficient transport function, and understands what great service looks like in a merchanting environment.
You’ll have overall responsibility for scheduling deliveries, managing drivers, maintaining compliance, and ensuring vehicles, plant and people operate safely and effectively.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Planning and scheduling all branch deliveries
- Managing and supporting drivers to deliver excellent customer service
- Ensuring compliance with O Licence requirements, drivers’ hours, and transport legislation
- Overseeing vehicle, crane and plant inspections, servicing and repairs
- Managing fuel cards, diesel usage, congestion charge and transport administration
- Monitoring tachographs and Working Time Directive records
- Handling accident reporting, defect reporting and vehicle cleanliness
- Implementing and enforcing health & safety standards across transport operations
- Taking ownership of the smooth day-to-day running of the transport function
What We’re Looking For
- At least two years’ experience in a similar transport or logistics role
- Experience of multi-drop deliveries
- Strong organisational, planning and problem-solving skills
- Confident managing and motivating a driver team
- Good working knowledge of transport compliance and Health & Safety
- Merchanting or similar industry experience desirable
- Eligible to work in the UK

- Hours: 7am-5pm Monday to Friday, 8am-12pm alternate Saturdays
