Contract: 24 months FTC, 2 days per week, term-time plus 4 weeks

Role outline and purpose
The Exam Access Arrangements Assessor (EAA) at LWC is responsible for identifying, assessing, and coordinating appropriate exam access arrangements for students with additional needs, ensuring that all arrangements are fair, student-centred, and fully compliant with JCQ and awarding body regulations. Working collaboratively with the SENCo, teaching staff, house staff, parents, and external professionals, the EAA gathers and maintains robust evidence of need, oversees assessments, submits applications within required deadlines, and ensures arrangements reflect students’ normal way of working across academic and pastoral settings. The role also supports LWC’s inclusive ethos by providing guidance and training to staff, reviewing and monitoring arrangements regularly, and maintaining accurate records to ensure consistency, compliance, and best practice across the school.
Role Responsibilities
- Identification and Assessment
- Coordinate the screening and assessment process for students who may require access arrangements (e.g., dyslexia, learning difficulties, medical needs, physical disabilities, anxiety).
- Work with SENCOs, teachers, parents, and external specialists to gather evidence of need.
- Be involved in communication with the other departments of the school and parents at all stages to ensure EAA is understood and implemented.
- Carry out EAA assessments or ensure assessments are carried out by suitably qualified professionals (e.g., specialist assessors).
- Communicate with parents about pupils on an ‘as-needs-be’ basis (either by email or face-to-face).
- Liaise with pupils on their EAA.
- Compliance and Administration
- Ensure full compliance with JCQ and awarding body regulations.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including Form 8s, assessor reports, history of need, and normal way of working evidence.
- Submit applications for EAAs within required deadlines.
- Training and Guidance
- Provide training to staff on access arrangement rules and best practice.
- Communicate with teachers to ensure EAA students receive their arrangements in classroom assessments (“normal way of working”).
- Monitoring and Review
- Keep records up to date and review EAAs annually or as needed.
- Monitor student progress and ensure ongoing eligibility.
- Conduct internal audits to ensure processes are secure and compliant.
