Shape the delivery of some of the UK's most complex engineering and automation projects. We're retained by a global engineering organisation to appoint an experienced Senior Project Planner who can bring real project delivery expertise to a highly visible role within a major programme delivery team. This is far more than a planning position.

We're looking for someone who has actually delivered complex engineering projects and understands the realities of keeping major programmes on track. Whether your background is as a Project Manager, Senior Project Manager, Programme Manager, Project Controls Manager or Lead Planner, you'll know what good delivery looks like - and more importantly, how to recover projects when things don't go to plan.

You'll become a trusted advisor to senior project teams, influencing delivery strategy, challenging assumptions and providing the insight needed to improve project performance across a portfolio of large-scale engineering programmes.

The Opportunity

Working across multiple high-value projects, you'll take ownership of programme scheduling and project controls, partnering closely with Project Managers, engineering teams and key stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and on time. This is an opportunity to join a genuinely world-class engineering business delivering technically challenging projects where your expertise will directly influence commercial success and customer satisfaction.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Developing and managing complex project schedules across multiple engineering programmes.
  • Working alongside Project Managers to ensure plans accurately reflect project progress and delivery commitments.
  • Identifying schedule risks, critical path issues and recovery opportunities before they impact delivery.
  • Applying project controls techniques including Earned Value Management (EVM), Critical Path Analysis and schedule forecasting.
  • Producing meaningful project reporting that enables informed commercial and operational decisions.
  • Supporting change management, schedule recovery and project performance improvement.
  • Coaching project teams on planning best practice and driving continuous improvement across project delivery.

About You

You'll bring first-hand experience of delivering complex projects and understand the commercial and operational pressures faced by project teams. We're particularly interested in individuals who have worked as:

  • Project Manager
  • Senior Project Manager
  • Programme Manager
  • Project Controls Manager
  • Senior Planner
  • Lead Scheduler

You'll ideally have experience within sectors such as:

  • Automation
  • Material Handling
  • Manufacturing
  • Engineering
  • Construction
  • Industrial Projects
  • Process Industries
  • Oil & Gas
  • Infrastructure

You'll be comfortable working with Microsoft Project and have strong knowledge of project controls methodologies including Critical Path Analysis, Earned Value Management and project forecasting. Most importantly, you'll possess the confidence and credibility to challenge senior stakeholders, influence decision-making and help deliver successful project outcomes.

What's on Offer

  • Highly competitive salary
  • Performance-related bonus
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • Hybrid working
  • Genuine career development within a global engineering organisation
  • Exposure to major, technically challenging engineering programmes
  • Long-term progression opportunities

If you're an experienced project professional looking to use your delivery expertise in a role where you can genuinely influence the success of complex engineering programmes, we'd love to hear from you.
