Company Overview: Our client is an industry-leading Telecoms contractor with offices across the M4 corridor from Cardiff to London. They offer design, installation, and maintenance of structured cabling systems for modern business connectivity (Cat 5e, 6, 6a), internal fitout, and fibre installation/CMS for smart buildings. With over 20 years of experience, they have delivered projects in both public and private sectors, including government departments, educational establishments, correctional institutions, and healthcare facilities, providing bespoke structured cabling solutions in challenging environments.
Role Overview: We are recruiting a Project Manager with over 5 years of structured cabling experience to support projects in the London region. The role requires experience in CNS (Communications, Network & Security) and installation of structured cabling (fibre & Cat 6) for smart building controls. This is a permanent position offering the chance to join a team that delivers top-class cabling infrastructure services across various environments.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Directors in the overall delivery of projects in the South East.
- Lead multiple projects (typically 2-3 simultaneously), overseeing Site Managers operationally and commercially.
- Ensure high-quality installation of Cat 5/6/6a/7 cables, including dressing cabinets.
- Ensure the quality of all designated installations.
- Prepare and maintain up-to-date customer and internal project reports.
- Collaborate with teams to understand physical design requirements, including layout, project phasing, and additional needs.
- Ensure compliance with company and statutory health & safety obligations.
- Manage labour and sub-contractors directly assigned to projects, adhering to company policies and best practices.
- Participate in training to achieve relevant certifications and qualifications.
- Represent the company professionally, safeguarding assets and reputation.
Candidate Requirements:
- Experience with CMS systems.
- At least 5 years of site/project management experience in structured cabling.
- Internal fitout cabling experience; this role is not suitable for external broadband civils or fibre backgrounds.
- ECS/CSCS certification is beneficial.
- SSSTS/SMSTS certification is desirable.
- Prince2 or other project management qualifications are advantageous.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Willingness to commute within the London area.
