- Providing hands-on H&S support to operational managers across the factory floor
- Ensuring compliance with UK H&S legislation, regulatory requirements and industry standards
- Managing and continuously improving the site's H&S Management System, with a focus on maintaining ISO 45001
- Conducting risk assessments, hazard analyses, inspections and compliance audits
- Identifying and controlling physical, chemical, ergonomic and other workplace hazards
- Leading investigations into accidents, incidents and near misses, establishing root causes and implementing corrective actions
- Delivering H&S training, toolbox talks, safety briefings and awareness programmes
- Managing emergency preparedness, drills and response procedures
- Developing and leading the site's Health & Safety Committee and employee engagement initiatives
- Driving behavioural safety and developing a strong, proactive safety culture
- Monitoring H&S performance through KPIs, leading indicators and regular reporting
- Working collaboratively with suppliers, contractors, managers and employees to continuously improve site standards
What we're Looking For
We're looking for an experienced H&S professional from a complex manufacturing environment who is comfortable being highly visible on the factory floor and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
You'll ideally bring:
- Significant Health & Safety experience within a high-risk manufacturing environment
- Strong practical knowledge of COSHH, DSEAR and PUWER
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent qualification
- Experience of H&S Management Systems and ISO 45001
- Strong risk assessment, auditing and incident investigation experience
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- The confidence to challenge, influence and coach operational teams
- The ability to work autonomously while also operating effectively as part of a wider HSEE function
Why This Role?
This is an excellent opportunity for an established H&S professional who wants to move beyond simply maintaining compliance and play a key role in shaping safety culture and driving continuous improvement across a significant manufacturing operation.
