The Dean Trust is seeking to appoint a talented and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant Level 2 to join our dedicated team at Lord Derby Academy.
The core purpose of the role will be to work under the instruction of the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) & relevant staff to:
- undertake work/care/support programmes for pupils, especially those with Special Educational Needs/Disabilities (SEND)
- enable access to learning for pupils and assist the teacher in the management of pupils in the classroom
- assist in the support and integration of children with Special Educational Needs and/or disabilities (SEND) within a mainstream school
Key responsibilities:
- Supervise and provide support for pupils, including those with SEND (if applicable), ensuring their safety and access to learning activities
- Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour Plans and Personal Care programmes
- Use strategies, in lesson with the teacher/lead staff, to support pupils to achieve learning goals
- Assist with the planning of learning activities
- Monitor pupils’ responses to learning activities and accurately record achievement/progress as directed
- Undertake programmes linked to local and national learning strategies, e.g. literacy, numeracy, Key Stage 3, and recording achievement and progress and feeding back to the teacher
- Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to safeguarding, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
