We’re partnering with a well-established professional services business looking to hire a hands-on IT Manager to lead their internal ICT function and support the next phase of their technology journey. This role will manage a small team of 2 people whilst remaining heavily involved technically across infrastructure, support, networking, systems and project delivery. The business is currently investing significantly in technology, infrastructure and cloud adoption, making this a great opportunity for someone who enjoys improving environments, implementing new solutions and helping move an IT function from reactive support into proactive planning and modernisation.
Responsibilities
- Manage and mentor a small internal ICT team
- Act as the senior escalation point for technical issues
- Maintain and support the company’s infrastructure, systems and networks
- Support both on-prem and cloud-based environments
- Manage servers, networking equipment and business-critical systems
- Drive infrastructure and systems improvement projects
- Support ongoing cloud migration and modernisation initiatives
- Improve cyber security processes and standards
- Support approximately 100 users across multiple office locations
- Work closely with non-technical stakeholders across the business

- Windows environment
- Azure / hybrid cloud infrastructure
- 6 physical hosts / 28 virtual servers
- Multi-site support environment
- Networking infrastructure including switches and access points
- Cyber Essentials focused environment
- Case management systems
Requirements
- Previous experience in an IT Manager, Infrastructure Manager or senior technical leadership role
- Strong Microsoft / Windows infrastructure experience
- Experience with Azure and hybrid cloud environments
- Networking and server infrastructure knowledge
- Previous experience managing or mentoring technical staff
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proactive mindset with a focus on planning, improvement and delivery
- Ability to support non-technical users in a fast-paced environment

- Ideally 2-3 days per week onsite in Oldham
