Due to continued growth and increasing client demand for senior data engineering expertise, we are looking for a Data Engineering Manager to build, lead, and scale our data engineering capability.
Role Overview:
As a Data Engineering Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering Loop Horizon's data engineering services. This is a hands-on leadership role combining technical delivery, team building, and client engagement. You will be responsible for:
- Owning end-to-end technical delivery of data products - from discovery and design through to build & release
- Building a high-performing data engineering capability within the organisation
- Acting as a trusted technical partner to clients, owning delivery quality and relationships
- Supporting the growth of our core service lines
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership & Delivery- Lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure data pipelines (batch and near-real-time)
- Architect and deliver data models for marketing, customer analytics, and digital behavioural use cases (e.g. SCV, attribution, journey analysis)
- Define and enforce best practices across data architecture, modelling, testing, deployment, and documentation
- Oversee data quality, observability, lineage, and governance to ensure trusted analytics outputs
- Act as a hands-on senior engineer on complex client engagements where needed
- Build and scale Loop Horizon's data engineering capability, including ways of working, delivery standards, and reusable assets
- Line manage and mentor data engineers, supporting technical growth and career development
- Identify skills gaps and support hiring, onboarding, and upskilling of new team members
- Foster a collaborative, high-quality engineering culture aligned to consultancy delivery
- Act as the senior data engineering point of contact for clients
- Translate client business objectives into pragmatic, scalable technical solutions
- Partner closely with Analytics, MarTech, and Strategy leads to deliver integrated solutions
- Support pre-sales activity including solution design, estimates, and technical credibility in pitches
- Build long-term, trusted client relationships through high-quality delivery and clear communication
- Provide SME support for ongoing data platform operations and optimisation
- Lead data platform build or migration projects in collaboration with selected technology partners
- Ensure partner solutions align with Loop Horizon standards and client needs
Skills and Qualifications:
Essential- Proven experience as a Senior Data Engineer, Data Engineering Lead, or Data Engineering Manager
- Strong hands-on experience designing and building scalable data pipelines and analytics-ready datasets
- Deep understanding of data modelling for analytics and marketing use cases
- Experience working with marketing, digital, or customer data
- Experience with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and modern data stacks (e.g. Databricks, BigQuery, Snowflake)
- Experience implementing data quality, governance, and monitoring frameworks
- Experience with workflow orchestration and scheduling tools (e.g., Airflow, AWS Step Functions)
- Strong stakeholder management and client-facing experience
- Ability to balance hands-on delivery with leadership and strategic thinking
- Consultancy or agency experience
- Exposure to privacy, consent, and regulatory considerations (e.g. GDPR)
- Experience working with partners and third-party vendors
