The business is looking for an experienced Transport Planner who can confidently manage a busy transport desk, optimise fleet utilisation and react quickly to changing operational demands. You will play a key role in ensuring deliveries are completed safely, efficiently and on time while working closely with operational teams to maintain exceptional service levels.
Working as part of the wider Logistics distribution and supply chain function, you will have the opportunity to influence transport performance and contribute towards the continuous improvement of a high-performing operation.
Key Responsibilities- Producing efficient daily transport plans to maximise fleet utilisation and operational performance
- Monitoring live transport activity and responding quickly to operational challenges and customer requirements
- Working closely with drivers, warehouse teams and the wider Logistics distribution and supply chain operation to ensure seamless service delivery
- Managing route planning to optimise cost, efficiency and customer satisfaction
- Monitoring transport KPIs and identifying opportunities to improve operational performance
- Ensuring compliance with drivers' hours, Working Time Directive and transport legislation
- Maintaining accurate transport records, planning systems and operational documentation
- Supporting Continuous Improvement initiatives across the transport function to enhance efficiency and service delivery
- Previous experience operating as a Transport Planning Manager within a fast-paced retail, distribution or logistics environment
- Strong understanding of route planning, fleet utilisation and transport legislation
- Experience managing live transport operations and responding to changing priorities
- Excellent communication and organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure
- Experience working within a Logistics distribution and supply chain environment
- Strong knowledge of Transport Management Systems (TMS) and transport planning software
- Commercial awareness with the ability to balance operational efficiency and customer service
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with a passion for delivering operational excellence
