The business is looking for an experienced Transport Planner who can confidently manage a busy transport desk, optimise fleet utilisation and react quickly to changing operational demands. You will play a key role in ensuring deliveries are completed safely, efficiently and on time while working closely with operational teams to maintain exceptional service levels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Producing efficient daily transport plans to maximise fleet utilisation and operational performance
  • Monitoring live transport activity and responding quickly to operational challenges and customer requirements
  • Working closely with drivers, warehouse teams and the wider Logistics distribution and supply chain operation to ensure seamless service delivery
  • Managing route planning to optimise cost, efficiency and customer satisfaction
  • Monitoring transport KPIs and identifying opportunities to improve operational performance
  • Ensuring compliance with drivers' hours, Working Time Directive and transport legislation
  • Maintaining accurate transport records, planning systems and operational documentation
  • Supporting Continuous Improvement initiatives across the transport function to enhance efficiency and service delivery
Key Experience
  • Previous experience operating as a Transport Planning Manager within a fast-paced retail, distribution or logistics environment
  • Strong understanding of route planning, fleet utilisation and transport legislation
  • Experience managing live transport operations and responding to changing priorities
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure
  • Experience working within a Logistics distribution and supply chain environment
  • Strong knowledge of Transport Management Systems (TMS) and transport planning software
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to balance operational efficiency and customer service
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach with a passion for delivering operational excellence
