Loom Talent is supporting a client with the appointment of a Transport Supervisor working Monday to Friday on a morning shift from 06:00 until 15:00. Our client is a specialist in contract logistics across the UK and the role will support the transport solution of a shared service site in Rochester, Kent.
This is a hands-on transport supervisor role where you will have the following responsibilities:
- Oversee on-site transport operation to align with both network standards and customer expectations.
- Ensure driver compliance with working time directive regulations and conduct timely investigations into any accidents or incidents.
- Collaborate with line management to optimise the use of hire vehicles and subcontractors, reducing overall costs to the business.
- Maintain full operational resourcing by managing subcontractor engagement and effectively coordinating staff holidays and absences.
- Support the smooth daily execution of operations by leveraging team resources efficiently.
- Participate in HR and Health & Safety matters, including recruitment, investigations, disciplinary procedures, managing absences, and conducting return-to-work interviews.
The successful applicant will have an understanding and hands-on experience gained within a fast-paced transport operation. They will be familiar with day-to-day people management and transport planning. The role requires strong communication skills that enable effective interaction with internal and external stakeholders. They will be comfortable leading teams, including drivers, and be quick to learn new systems and processes.
