A national leader in logistics is seeking a highly capable Senior Transport Operations Manager to lead a major distribution site in the Reading area. This is a critical leadership role within a key location of a multi-site transport function.
As Senior Transport Operations Manager you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end transport operation of a key distribution centre servicing customers across the South. This includes the oversight of a substantial fleet, a large driver workforce, and significant third-party logistics coordination. The position demands a senior operator with strong stakeholder management, strategic thinking, and operational resilience.
Key Responsibilities:- Leadership & Reporting: Reporting to a senior transport leadership team, you will be one of several senior managers responsible for nationwide operations.
- Fleet Oversight: Manage a varied and large-scale fleet.
- Union Relations: Play a key role in maintaining and developing productive relationships with union representatives.
- Driver Workforce: Lead a significant sized team of in-house & agency drivers, ensuring full compliance, safety, and performance.
- Budget Control: Overall control of a significant budget.
- Operational Management: Lead a team of transport managers and shift managers, ensuring smooth day-to-day running and effective shift transitions.
- Third-Party Coordination: Work closely with a number of national 3PL providers to ensure service continuity and efficiency.
- Demonstrated success in large-scale, high-volume transport operation.
