Huddersfield | £29,000 - £33,000 DOE
Shift Pattern: 4 on, 4 off, covering either 6am-6pm or 7am-7pm. Occasional night shifts may be required to cover periods of sickness or holiday.

Loom Talent is working exclusively with a well-established transport and logistics operator based in Huddersfield, part of a larger transport group. Our client is a specialist distributor, running a fast-paced, high-volume operation where accuracy and reliability really matter.
The Role:
Due to continued growth, our client is looking for an experienced Transport Planner in Huddersfield to join their team. You will play a key role in the smooth day-to-day running of the operation, responsible for planning driver schedules, reconciling the previous day's work, and handing over a clear, well-prepared shift to the incoming planning team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and coordinate driver schedules and routes to meet contractual delivery requirements.
- Reconcile the previous day's work, ensuring all jobs, hours and paperwork are accurately recorded and closed out.
- Prepare clear, accurate handovers for the incoming shift's planning team.
- Liaise with drivers, depot staff and customers to resolve issues and keep operations running smoothly.
- Monitor driver hours and ensure compliance with relevant transport legislation (e.g. Working Time Directive, drivers' hours rules).
- Respond to and resolve day-to-day operational issues, including delays, breakdowns and route changes.
- Maintain accurate records within transport planning systems.

- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think on your feet and stay calm under pressure.
- A confident, effective communicator who can build good working relationships with drivers, colleagues and customers.
- Well organised, with the ability to prioritise a busy and varied workload.
- Good IT skills, comfortable picking up new systems.
- Flexibility to work the shift pattern above, including occasional nights.
- Previous experience in transport planning is a bonus but not essential; we're just as interested in your problem-solving and people skills as your background.
