Senior Transport Manager - Leeds - £55,000 - £65,000 The role This Senior Transport Manager opportunity is with a well-established national distribution business based in Leeds, taking ownership of a busy, high-volume transport operation. The business is looking for an experienced Senior Transport Manager who can lead from the front, develop a strong operational team and drive performance across service, compliance, cost and fleet utilisation. Working closely with the wider Logistics distribution and supply chain function, you'll have responsibility for ensuring the transport operation delivers against demanding customer expectations while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity and overall operational performance.
Key responsibilities
Leading the day-to-day performance of a large-scale transport operation Managing, coaching and developing transport managers, planners and operational colleagues Driving performance across service, fleet utilisation, cost and operational KPIs Ensuring full compliance with Operator Licence requirements, DVSA regulations, drivers' hours and Working Time Directive Managing transport budgets and identifying opportunities to reduce operational costs Overseeing fleet performance, vehicle availability and maintenance compliance Working closely with warehousing and the wider Logistics distribution and supply chain teams to ensure seamless operational delivery Leading Continuous Improvement initiatives across planning, efficiency and service Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders, customers and third-party suppliers Developing a positive, accountable and high-performing transport culture Key experience Proven experience as a Senior Transport Manager, Transport Manager, Regional Transport Manager or similar senior leadership position Strong background within national distribution, 3PL, retail or high-volume transport operations Experience managing sizeable transport teams and complex fleet operations Strong understanding of Operator Licence requirements, DVSA compliance and transport legislation Experience managing transport budgets, fleet utilisation and operational KPIs Demonstrable success improving service, productivity and transport costs Strong people leadership skills with the ability to develop and engage management teams National Transport Manager CPC would be highly advantageous Experience working within a Logistics distribution and supply chain environment A proactive, hands-on leadership style with strong commercial awareness This Senior Transport Manager role in Leeds offers a salary of £55,000 - £65,000 and would suit an established transport leader looking for genuine operational ownership within a national distribution business, with the opportunity to drive performance and influence the continued development of the operation.
