The Role
The Head of Solutions Design will lead autonomous design for complex storage strategies, play a crucial role in developing and implementing both new and existing warehousing solutions for our varied client sectors. Your expertise in AutoCAD and advanced excel/BI will be instrumental in driving project success. As the Head of Solutions Design, your ability to integrate technical knowledge with commercial acumen will enable us to identify market opportunities, streamline operations contributing to the growth and competitiveness of the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive engineering excellence and innovation to deliver optimised logistics solutions.
- Serve as the design authority for complex, multi-site, and automation focused warehouse solutions.
- Lead the entire solutions life cycle, including data discovery, flow design, financial modelling and risk management.
- Represent the company in discussions with key customer stakeholders, showcasing credibility and clarity.
- Set standards, mentor peers, and collaborate with various departments to ensure operational effectiveness and scalability.
- Utilise expertise in warehouse design process improvement to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Contribute to the company's leadership in logistics automation and operational excellence.
The Candidate
- 8-12+ years' experience in warehouse solution design or supply chain engineering, including large-scale automated tenders and designs.
- Strong track record in competitive RFPs, including consultant-led evaluations and senior stakeholder presentations.
- Degree-level education in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, layout design, process improvement and productivity modelling.
- Confident using data to support design decisions and improve processes.
- Good understanding of SLAs, operational KPIs, workforce planning, safety and compliance in a 3PL environment.
- Awareness of contract structures, pricing guardrails and phased solution design.
- Clear, confident communicator with strong stakeholder management skills.
- Strategic, analytical and practical approach to solving warehouse design challenges.
- Able to work across multiple or international sites, ensuring operational alignment.
