We're recruiting a qualified Management Accountant on behalf of a well-established, privately-owned specialist logistics business headquartered in Essex. With over 30 years in operation, our client is a market leader in their niche managing complex international supply chains for some of the world's leading food and ingredients businesses. They operate a network of sites across the UK and Northern Europe, handling hundreds of thousands of tonnes of product annually. It's a business with genuine scale, strong accreditations and a real commitment to quality and sustainability.

This is a broad, hands-on role reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller, sitting at the centre of a busy finance function.

About the role:
  • Produce monthly management accounts, P&L, cash flows and variance analysis
  • Lead on VAT calculation, presentation and payment
  • Manage the purchase order system and monthly review of sales invoices
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, fixed asset schedules and bad debt provisions
  • Review and amend monthly pre-payments and accruals
  • Support the annual budget cycle and periodic forecasting
  • Prepare, analyse and interpret business KPIs
  • Take a lead role in annual audit preparation
  • Develop and maintain project costing models and standard costing documents
  • Liaise with financial and non-financial stakeholders up to MD and Commercial Director level
What we're looking for:
  • Fully qualified accountant ACA, ACCA or CIMA
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a management accounting role
  • Strong analytical and numerical ability with excellent attention to detail
  • Confident communicator comfortable working with both finance and non-finance teams
  • Proactive, commercially minded and decisive
  • Willingness to travel to European locations on an ad hoc basis
