Location: Home Based (National Travel throughout England).
We\’re partnering with a sector-leading, safety-critical services business to identify an experienced Contract Manager (Transport) to lead the operational delivery of a national field service function. This is a home-based role with UK-wide remit.
You\’ll take full ownership of a multi-contract portfolio, overseeing all aspects of safe service delivery, commercial performance, and team leadership. Your ability to drive operational excellence while managing complex industrial relations will be essential to success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading and developing a national field operations team to deliver consistent performance across safety, service, and compliance.
- Building trusted relationships with major clients – ensuring satisfaction while growing and retaining key contracts.
- Taking full control of contract P&Ls, budgets, and revenue opportunities – with a sharp eye on cost control and margin optimisation.
- Owning industrial relations – including trade union engagement and periodic wage negotiations.
- Driving a safety-first culture while embedding SHEQ objectives across every contract.
- Ensuring resources and service levels align with forecast demand and customer requirements.
Key Experience\’s:
- Has led multi-site or national teams in a safety-critical or logistics-related field
- A background as a Contract Manager (Transport) or similar, within a Logistics Distribution and Supply Chain environment.
- Brings strong financial acumen with full P&L accountability (ideally multi-million pound contracts).
- Understands the complexity of industrial relations and has experience working with unions at multiple levels.
- Is a natural leader who can coach, motivate, and get the best from others.
- Is commercially savvy, strategically aware, and a credible voice in front of customers.
