Loom Talent have partnered with a well-known 3PL provider, renowned for its commitment to delivering top-notch logistics solutions in the fast-moving world of Third-Party Logistics across many sectors including; FMCG, Retail, E-Commerce & Haulage.

As a key player in the industry, they pride themselves on a commitment to delivering excellence service, now seeking a Senior Transport Operations Manager to own the end-to-end contract Transport function.

The Role:

The Senior Transport Operations Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing end to end operations, leading a key RDC function in Leicester.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a Transport team of over 150 employees across a key DC location, encompassing over 200+ vehicles.
  • Lead the National Planning agenda through a team of planning experts.
  • Assume responsibility for the Transport Health & Safety, Driver Training & Risk Assessors.
  • Responsible for an annual budget of c. £25m per year.
  • Lead all operational H&S, Compliance and Fleet Maintenance agendas across the National Transport operations.
  • Ensuring seamless coordination and optimisation of logistics operations from an internal synergy and Continuous Improvement perspective within an Open Book environment.
  • Implementing best practices whilst ensuring sufficient usage of the TMS & Planning platforms.
  • To help support and develop individuals, provide developmental opportunities within the business.

The Candidate:

The successful candidate for the Senior Transport Operations Manager position will possess the following skills & experiences:

  • A Logistics Distribution and Supply Chain Background - Essential.
  • A CPC National / International qualification, demonstrating your deep understanding of transportation regulations - Essential.
  • 5+ Years Transport Management experience within a 3PL / FMCG or Retail environment - Essential.
  • Proven experience in managing Open / Closed Book operations consisting of headcount north of +150 and 200+ assets - Essential.
  • Previous budget management of +£20m - Essential.
  • A true passion for people development, providing excellent service and Continuous Improvement.
  • Proven experience in dealing with Unions - Advantageous.
  • A proven history of strong leadership abilities, whilst fostering a culture of excellence and an ability to identify and develop talent within - Essential.
  • Lean Six Sigma / Prince2 accreditation's - Advantageous.
  • Commutable to the Leicester area 5 days per week - Essential.

Salary & Package:

  • Salary - £50,000 to £5,000.
