The Role
The Operations Director – Logistics In Manufacturing will play a critical role in leading all activity across key DC locations, operating within a Multi-User, Multi-Site, Open Book, unionised environment in the Merthyr Tydydil, Wales area.
This position is a truly exciting opportunity for an experienced logistics professional to be at the forefront of a rapidly expanding organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Reporting Line: Reporting to the UK Managing Director (Or Similar).
- Operational Leadership: Provide strategic leadership and direction for all operational activities, including warehousing, distribution, strategy, continuous improvement and projects.
- Team Management: Lead and develop a high-performing, collective site operational team (up to 120+ employees) through managerial direct reports.
- Client Relationships: Build and maintain an already impressive, strong customer relationship base, ensuring ongoing satisfaction.
- Commercial Responsibility & Budget Management: Develop and manage the operational site budget, ensuring financial objectives are achieved while maintaining service & quality.
- Performance Metrics: Continue to evolve the organisational approach to KPI\’s, whilst ensuring existing and new site standardisation.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, safety standards, and industry best practice.
- Process Optimisation: Continuously evaluate and improve operational processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Innovation: Support the business appetite to drive innovation, Automation & Robotics along with the adoption of new technologies to improve operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Supplier Relationships: Manage UK commercial relationships with customers, suppliers and third-party service providers to ensure timely and cost-effective services.
The Candidate
The successful candidate for the Operations Director – Logistics In Manufacturing role will have the following skills and experiences:
- A Logistics Distribution and Supply Chain Background – Essential.
- Proven Warehouse leadership experience within; 3PL / Production / Manufacturing / Automotive / FMCG or Construction industry, with a minimum of 5+ years of progressive responsibility – Essential.
- A minimum of 5 years\’ experience operating at a General Manager, Senior General Manager, Head of or Operations Director level previously – Essential.
- Previous budgetary responsibility across medium sized DC operations in excess of £10m – Advantageous.
- Exposure to unionised environments – Highly Advantageous.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with a track record of developing high-performing teams.
- Prior commercial knowledge of the UK logistics and warehousing market – Essential.
- An individual truly excited by large scale growth challenges.
- Commutable to Merthyr Tydfil, and surrounding areas – Essential.
Salary & Benefits Package
