Senior Employee Relations Partner
Leicestershire
Up to Β£70,000 - Β£72,000p.a. + car or car allowance + bonus
Loom Talent are working exclusively with a large, established transport/logistics business looking to strengthen its Employee Relations team. With a focus on developing a more proactive approach to ER, they are looking for an experienced Senior ER Partner who can combine strong technical knowledge with the ability to influence, coach and support stakeholders across a complex, heavily unionised environment.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys getting into the detail of employee relations but also wants to make a wider impact, helping managers build confidence, improving consistency and driving best practice across the business.
The Role
- Acting as a senior point of contact for complex, sensitive and high-risk employee relations matters, providing advice and guidance to HR colleagues and key stakeholders.
- Coaching and upskilling managers to take greater ownership of employee relations, building confidence in handling cases and improving decision-making, focussing on best practise.
- Working closely with the wider HR team to move towards a more proactive approach to ER, using data to identify trends and recurring issues and putting plans in place to. make sound process improvements.
- Supporting the development of ER policies, processes and guidance, ensuring a consistent and commercially sound approach across the business.
- Building effective relationships with Trade Union representatives (this is really important!) and key stakeholders, supporting positive employee relations within a unionised environment.
- Providing guidance on complex absence cases, occupational health, flexible working requests, disciplinaries, grievances and other challenging people matters - mainly acting as an escalation point.
What we are looking for
- A strong background in Employee Relations, either within a specialist ER role or a broader HR Business Partner position with an ER focus.
- Experience operating within a unionised environment, with the confidence to navigate complex employee relations matters and work effectively with Trade Unions, building strong relationships.
- Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and its practical application in a fast-paced operational business, including all upcoming changes.
- Someone who can operate at both a strategic and hands-on level, balancing complex casework with wider improvements to the way they approach ER.
- A confident coach and influencer who can support managers and HR colleagues to make informed, consistent decisions.
- A commercially minded approach, with the ability to balance business needs, employee experience and legal risk.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify trends, challenge existing approaches and recommend practical improvements.
This is an opportunity to join a business looking to develop its approach to employee relations, with scope to influence how ER is managed across the organisation. The role offers a genuine mix of complex casework, senior stakeholder engagement and the opportunity to build management capability and drive more proactive ways of working.
The role operates on a hybrid basis, with three days onsite or on the road and two days working from home.
There is also the opportunity of a slightly more junior role within the ER team so if you don't quite have the strategic experience just yet - please do apply!
