Job Type: Full-time, Permanent, shifts are (5am-2pm / 1pm-10pm)
Loom Talent is recruiting two Transport Planners on behalf of a well-established, family-run haulage and logistics business with more than 90 years in the industry, based at its purpose-built site on the North Wales/Cheshire border.
The business provides pallet distribution, full and part loads, groupage, night deliveries and warehousing to customers across the North West, North Wales and beyond. These two new roles will join an existing planner to create a three-person planning team, giving the traffic office cover from early morning through to late evening.
What you'll be doing:
- Planning and scheduling daily vehicle routes and loads across the fleet, allocating vehicles and drivers to make the best use of resources
- Covering early or late planning on a rotating shift pattern, making sure handovers between shifts are smooth and the next day's work is ready to go
- Liaising with drivers, the warehouse, customers and subcontract hauliers to secure capacity, manage changes and resolve issues as they arise
- Monitoring vehicle movements and delivery performance, managing exceptions and keeping customers and colleagues informed
- Ensuring all planning stays compliant with drivers' hours, the Working Time Directive and DVSA requirements
What we're looking for:
- Experience in a transport planning or traffic office role, ideally within haulage, pallet networks or distribution
- Working knowledge of UK transport compliance: drivers' hours, Working Time Directive and DVSA regulations
- Good knowledge of UK geography and road networks
- Confident using transport/routing systems, tracking and Excel
- Calm and organised under pressure, with clear communication with drivers, customers and hauliers
- Comfortable working a rotating early/late shift pattern (there is some flexibility on this for the right candidates)
Why apply:
- £33,000 - £36,000 depending on experience
- Join a respected family business with a long track record and a modern, purpose-built site
- Be part of a newly expanded three-person planning team
- Stable, permanent role with a growing operation
