Lookers Birmingham Vauxhall & Changan are recruiting for a Vehicle Technician / Mechanic to join their workshop. You will work alongside experienced technicians, performing vehicle health checks, services, and repairs.

Contract & Hours

  • Contract Type: Permanent, full-time
  • Salary: OTE up to £52,480 (Uncapped); between £28,000 – £43,000 basic depending on qualifications, plus £3,000 Productivity Bonus and Time Saved Bonus Scheme
  • Hours: 40 hours Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm, plus 1 in 3 Saturdays 8:30am – 12:30pm

Responsibilities

  • Carrying out pre-delivery inspections on new and used vehicles
  • Carrying out checks in line with manufacturer guidelines
  • Fitting any additional accessories requested by the customer
  • Vehicle health check and report any further work which may be required
  • Checking lights, tyre pressure, mechanical and electrical components
  • Completing minor repairs on new and used vehicles
  • Understanding and carrying out basic diagnosis in mechanical and electrical work
  • Conducting vehicle service in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and customer requests
  • Carrying out any additional repairs once authorised by the customer
  • Warranty repairs are per manufacturer’s guidelines and relevant write‑up is complete
  • Taking the customer's vehicle out on a road test to ensure all faults are rectified
  • Completing all relevant paperwork to a high standard

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Prior experience as a mechanic.
  • Self‑motivated, ambitious, eager to learn, and able to work to high standards.
  • Full UK driving licence and completion of NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification.
  • Previous experience working with brand would be advantageous but not essential.

We will conduct relevant employment checks before you commence employment, including verification of recent employment, address, credit history, and standard criminal record check. For roles requiring driving, a driving licence check will also be carried out. All offers are subject to a 6‑month probation period commencing from your start date.
