As a BI SQL Developer at Lookers, you will join our Finance BI Data Team to play a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of our financial reporting solutions. This position requires expertise in SQL development, ETL processes, and data warehousing to meet the dynamic reporting and analytical needs of our Finance BI Team. Responsibilities

  • Design and optimize high-performance SQL solutions to power financial reporting, transaction analysis and business intelligence.
  • Take a leading role in identifying, diagnosing and resolving issues from debugging complex stored procedures to fine-tuning queries with proactive monitoring to keep our financial data accurate.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with end users and stakeholders, including finance teams to ensure their requirements are fully understood and met.
  • Follow industry standard testing and change management procedures to safeguard data integrity.
  • Share knowledge freely and help foster an environment where everyone can learn and innovate together.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in SQL development (SQL Server / SSMS), advanced data modelling, and ETL workflows.
  • Strong skills in Excel and data manipulation.
  • Advanced proficiency in T‑SQL, including writing and optimizing complex stored procedures, functions, views, CTEs, and triggers.
  • Combine strong teamwork skills with the initiative to work independently – balancing collaboration with personal accountability.
  • Committed to ongoing skills development, with the flexibility to evolve alongside emerging BI technologies and analytical approaches.
  • Effective organization and time management skills, capable of meeting deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.

Desired Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
  • Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) for developing and deploying a variety of reports.
  • Previous experience within the automotive industry.
  • Experience with OLAP data cubes and administration.
  • Background in finance or related financial domains; understanding financial data and processes.
  • Experience with any BI reporting tool.
