We're looking for a compassionate and resilient Specialist Support Worker to join our Learning Disabilities Service located in Hertfordshire. No personal care or experience required, just the right values.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support one customer in their own home in Letchworth Garden City.
- Provide information, social inclusion and vocational opportunities to support people to recover and stay well.
- Exercise choice and control in their care and lives; participate on an equal footing in the community.
- Develop a model of re-enablement towards self-advocacy, self-management and empowerment.
- Support the customer to lead a full and active life and do things they enjoy.
- Develop the customer's independent living skills, including cooking, shopping, cleaning, and decorating.
- Support the customer in their sensory routine and trial new sensory experiences.
- Assist the customer in communicating their wants and needs in a person-centred way.
- Encourage customer involvement in local activities.
Requirements:
- NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent with some sector work experience.
- Driving licence and a willingness to drive as part of support duties.
- Experience of engaging vulnerable people with complex needs in meaningful activities.
