We\’re looking for 2 kind, compassionate and resilient Support Workers to join our Learning Disability Service in Kensington and Chelsea.
£13,676.00 per annum, working 20 hours per week.

Amy Garvey House is a low support Learning Disabilities service, situated in the delightful Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. It comprises 11 self-contained flats offering accommodation to both male and female residents. As a low-need service, the role involves supporting customers in developing essential life skills. Support workers collaborate with residents to foster social inclusion and, together with the team, promote independent living. They encourage residents to enhance their skills and make informed choices to improve their quality of life.
The shift pattern for this role is comprised of Early shifts 8am-4pm and Late shifts 2pm-10pm, and occasional weekend shifts when necessary.
Responsibilities may also involve providing 1:1 support to customers during specific times.

What you\’ll do:

  • Provide support to customers to develop independent living skills tailored to their individual needs, assisting in all aspects as required.
  • Support customers with domestic tasks and practical assistance to promote a high standard of accommodation and promote independence.
  • Contribute to the development and review of support plans, including risk assessments, to ensure effective and person-centered support.
  • Perform security duties to safeguard customers and ensure the safety and security of the premises.
  • Assist customers in accessing and using community facilities by offering appropriate support.
  • Support customers to engage with the wider community, including accompanying them to appointments, shopping, educational opportunities, and public amenities.
  • Monitor and report any observations or concerns regarding the welfare and well-being of customers.
  • Comply with all Look Ahead policies, procedures, and statutory requirements relevant to the role and the specific project.
  • Adhere to health and safety policies and local protocols to maintain a safe environment for customers and staff.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records as directed by management.
  • Participate actively in team meetings, reviews, and contribute to the ongoing development of the service.
  • Perform any additional duties relevant to the role and in line with the grade and responsibilities of the position.
  • Conduct weekly health and safety checks to ensure ongoing safety compliance.
  • If a need arises, deliver all aspects of support to enable a customer to develop independent living skills as appropriate to the individual needs of the customer
  • Support customers to undertake all domestic tasks wherever possible, including practical assistance where they have not yet developed the skills, to ensure customers enjoy a high quality of accommodation.
  • Participate in support planning and risk management of the customer.
  • Carry out security duties to ensure the safety of the customers and premises.
  • Enable customers to make full use of community facilities by providing support as directed.
  • Carry out support duties to enable customers to integrate into the community including e.g. accompanying the customer to attend benefit agency appointments and meetings, go shopping, enquire at colleges about possible courses, to visit various public amenities.
  • Carry out weekly Health & Safety checks
  • Report any observations relating to customers welfare.
  • Adhere to all the policies and procedures of Look Ahead Care, Support & Housing plus those specific to the project including any statutory requirements.
  • Ensure Look Ahead Health and Safety policies and local protocols are adhered to at all times.
  • Maintain records as required at the project under the direction of the management.
  • Participate in team meetings/reviews and the general development of the service.
  • Undertake any other duties consistent with the grade and nature of the post as may be reasonably assigned.

What you\’ll bring:
Essential:

  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent or experience within charity/social care sector

Desirable:

  • Experience in working with people with Learning Disabilities and Autism
