The role: As a senior member of the Global Process Development (GPD) team, this role provides expert scientific leadership across Lonza’s global Biologics network, supporting technical challenges and driving the implementation of strategic technology programmes across the network. The position leads complex, multi‑disciplinary projects with a high degree of autonomy, influencing business decisions and ensuring successful delivery through matrixed teams. As a globally recognised subject matter expert, the role holder applies deep technical knowledge to troubleshoot challenges, monitor network‑wide process performance, and shape scientific and technical direction at a global level.
- Provide in-depth technical / CMC support to internal project teams and customers
- Manage complex multi‑disciplinary projects across the Lonza network with minimal direction, providing recommendations that shape business decisions
- Lead matrix teams across functions and sites to deliver successful project outcomes
- Be externally and globally recognised as a subject matter expert in multiple areas of upstream, downstream or bioconjugation
- Deliver a portfolio of projects on time and within budget using lean project management, with strong escalation, communication, documentation and risk management
- Monitor technical performance across the network, identifying and addressing areas of misalignment
- Contribute to Lonza’s strategic direction to support business growth and new product introduction
What we are looking for:
- BSc in Biotechnology, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering
- Extensive experience in biologics / bioprocessing
- Deep expertise in:
- Mammalian cell culture (CHO)
- GMP facing experience
- Fed-batch and/or perfusion systems
- Proven technical leadership experience
- Strong communication skills (able to influence stakeholders)
- Experience supporting early/late-stage & commercial processes preferred
