Senior Scientist - Protein Characterisation

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Senior Scientist to join our Protein Characterisation team in Slough.
In this role, you will contribute to the analytical characterisation of therapeutic proteins, supporting the development of life changing biologic medicines while working with advanced analytical technologies in a collaborative scientific environment.
This is a fully site based role.
Working together in person supports close, real time collaboration and the technical precision needed to manufacture medicines to the highest quality and safety standards.

What you will do
- Plan and independently execute analytical characterisation studies for therapeutic proteins using techniques including HPLC, electrophoresis, LC-MS and higher-order structure methods.
- Generate high-quality analytical data to support product characterisation and biocomparability studies, ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.
- Analyse, interpret and communicate scientific data, identifying technical challenges and implementing effective solutions where required.
- Prepare, review and maintain laboratory documentation, including protocols, reports and standard operating procedures.
- Maintain and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation to ensure reliable laboratory operations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, providing technical expertise, practical training and contributing to scientific discussions that drive continuous improvement.
- Participate in the laboratory out of hours call out rota to support the monitoring of critical cold storage equipment.
- What we are looking for
- Practical industry experience in a biopharmaceutical or analytical laboratory environment working with protein characterisation techniques.
- Hands on experience with analytical technologies such as HPLC, LC MS, electrophoresis and related protein analysis methods.
- Strong understanding of protein chemistry and analytical characterisation of biologic molecules.
- Experience troubleshooting analytical instrumentation and resolving technical challenges.
- Ability to analyse complex scientific data, interpret results and perform root cause investigations.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with experience working effectively across teams and sharing technical knowledge.
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences or another relevant scientific discipline.
