We are currently searching for a Setting Out Engineer for a fast-paced cut & fill package in Bicester. You will be working for a subcontractor who specialises in these packages, working alongside the principal contractor on the scheme.

The Role:

  • Carrying out topographical and pre-earthworks surveys, establishing existing ground levels and site constraints.
  • Setting out cut and fill operations, including formation levels, profiles, batter lines and haul roads in line with design models.
  • Establishing and maintaining site control, including GPS control points, datums and gridlines.
  • Using GPS, total station and machine control systems to guide earthworks operations and ensure accuracy.
  • Monitoring cut & fill progress, carrying out regular surveys to track volumes, levels and compliance with design tolerances.
  • Producing volume calculations and reports, comparing planned vs actual earthworks quantities.
  • Checking formation levels and compaction layers, ensuring works meet specification and are ready for subsequent construction stages.
  • Supporting QA processes, including survey records, as-built data and verification of completed works.
