We are currently searching for a Setting Out Engineer for a fast-paced groundworks package in Newport. You will be working for a subcontractor who specialises in these packages, working alongside the principal contractor on the scheme.

The Role:

  • Site Surveys and Setting Out works using GPS, total station and levels in line with drawings and specifications
  • Establishing and maintaining site control, datums and gridlines for bulk earthworks, attenuation and drainage runs
  • Carrying out quality checks and surveys to verify line, level and formation tolerances
  • Managing testing regimes, including compaction, CBR, permeability and pressure testing in accordance with specs
  • Recording and reviewing QA documentation, test results, ITPs and inspection records for handover
  • Liaising with main contractor, engineers and inspectors to coordinate inspections, hold points and approvals
  • Identifying non-conformances and implementing corrective actions, ensuring works meet contractual and adoptable standards
  • Producing as-built surveys and records, including drainage layouts, manhole schedules and test certificates

Experience Required:

  • 5+ years experience working as a Setting Out/Site Engineer in the Construction/Civil Engineering sector.
  • Experience using Trimble systems
  • Strong communication and reporting skills
  • All applicants must hold a CSCS Card as a minimum
