About the Role
Our client, a well-established construction, and earthworks contractor, is seeking a skilled Setting Out Engineer to join their growing team.
This role is crucial in ensuring accuracy and efficiency across a variety of civil engineering, demolition, and groundworks projects. The ideal candidate will have a solid technical background, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in fast-paced site environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Set out, level, and survey construction and demolition sites using GPS, total stations, and other instruments.
- Interpret and work from construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Liaise with site managers, project engineers, and subcontractors to ensure works are carried out to design and quality standards.
- Conduct regular checks on setting out points and benchmarks to maintain accuracy.
- Ensure all site work complies with company health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Maintain accurate site records, as-built drawings, and quality assurance documentation.
- Assist with material take-offs, quantity checks, and progress reports.
- Support the preparation of risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).
- Coordinate site surveys and report any design or technical issues promptly.
- Provide technical guidance to site teams and ensure works are executed safely and efficiently.
Key Skills
- Excellent technical and mathematical ability.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and site data accurately.
- Competent in using Trimble, Leica, or Topcon surveying equipment.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
- Strong understanding of site safety standards and CDM regulations.
Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 3β5 yearsβ experience as a Setting Out Engineer or Site Engineer within construction, civil engineering, or earthworks.
- Experience working on demolition, earthworks, or groundworks projects preferred.
- HNC / HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- Valid CSCS card essential.
- SSSTS or SMSTS and First Aid at Work certificates desirable.
- Full UK driving licence required.
Salary
Β£50,000 β Β£60,000 DOE
