Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging and challenging English lessons across KS3‑KS5
- Assess, monitor and report on student progress, adapting teaching to meet individual needs
- Promote high standards of behaviour and establish a positive learning environment
- Contribute to curriculum development within the English department
- Support students to develop strong literacy, critical thinking and analytical skills
- Participate in wider school life, including enrichment and extracurricular activities
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents and the wider school community
What we’re looking for
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Strong subject knowledge and passion for English
- Experience teaching in a secondary setting (or strong ECT potential)
- High expectations of student achievement and behaviour
- Ability to engage and inspire learners of all abilities
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students
- Reflective, proactive and committed to continuous professional development
