An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Forestry Supervisor to join the Forestry department on the Longleat Estate. The Forest is a 1294-hectare mixed silviculture plantation within the Cranbourne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and contains 210 hectares which are Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). This role involves supporting the Estate Manager and Forestry Consultant, together with the wider Forestry team, to deliver the long-term management plan for the forest.
You will be responsible for the day to day supervision of traditional woodland operations, including planting, harvesting and other traditional landed estate husbandry tasks. Contractor coordination is a key aspect of this role, supporting the safe and timely delivery of woodland works as specified. You will also support the delivery of the WD2 grant, and other higher tier grants and compliance matters for all forestry operations. This role also involves practical work within the Forest, therefore relevant qualifications for a range of forestry machinery will be required.
Key duties will include:
- Ensuring sufficient supply of round wood timber to meet the demand of the firewood business.
- Planning and producing schedules of Forestry work.
- Ensuring Health and Safety compliance.
