About the role: We are seeking a Rocksport Instructor for the upcoming summer season at Cheddar Gorge. Our Rocksport Instructors deliver high-quality outdoor adventure experiences, including caving, climbing, and freefall activities. Working in the unique and challenging natural environment of Cheddar Gorge, we are committed to providing exceptional guest experiences, while maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism. If you have the necessary skills to be a Rocksport Instructor, we would love to hear from you.

What you will be doing in your role: You will be responsible for ensuring the enjoyable and safe delivery of Rocksport activities by following the agreed standard operating procedures and risk assessments. You will also be working with the wider team to ensure the safe operation of Cheddar Gorge and caves for our staff, visitors, and guests, delivering fun, safe, and engaging sessions for novice groups, while supporting the wider Cheddar Gorge and Caves team in exceeding our guests’ expectations.

  • Delivering a range of Rocksport activities to include Caving, Climbing and similar outdoor adventurous activities.
  • Delivering activity sessions to a variety of people in line with agreed standard operating procedures and risk assessments to ensure high standards of safety for themselves, colleagues and guests.
  • Drawing on a wide range of background knowledge about adventurous outdoor activities, history and the local area (training will be provided).
  • Assisting the Operation team with the running of the Show Cave’s and wider Gorge where required.
  • Completing administrative elements for the safe running of activities.

What will you need to be considered for this vacancy?

  • Experience of communicating ideas and instructions.

  • Demonstrated team working skills.
  • Keen interest and passion for outdoor and adventurous activities, specifically passionate about Climbing and Caving in the South West.
  • Able to work weekends, bank holidays, evenings and early mornings as required by the business.
