About the role
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and engaging individual to bring the role of Santa to life at Cheddar Gorge & Caves this festive season.
You’ll play a central part in creating magical, memorable moments for children and families through warm interaction, character performance, and exceptional guest service.
This role is all about creating WOW moments — the kind of experiences our guests will talk about long after their visit.
- Deliver a guest-focused, interactive experience to children and families.
- Confidently perform in character, responding warmly and appropriately to questions and comments.
- Include light movement, physical expression, and gentle dancing to bring the magic to life.
- Follow a tight daily schedule, keeping to session timings throughout the day.
- Maintain a smart and festive appearance appropriate to the role (costume provided).
- Support the Assistant Operations Manager with grotto setup, present preparation, and daily operations.
- Be flexible in supporting the Attractions team in other roles, including outdoor work in all weathers.
- Follow all Health & Safety policies and safe working practices.
- Complete required safeguarding training, and act in line with company safeguarding procedures.

The Father Christmas Grotto is located approximately ¼ mile inside Gough’s Cave, along a well-lit and level path.
There will be light dancing, movement, and working within a cool cave environment.
Some light lifting (such as toy sacks) and regular standing will also be required throughout the day.
About you
We are looking for people who are confident, warm and enthusiastic, with the ability to bring the magic of Christmas to life for every family who visits Santa. You'll:
- Have an outgoing, enthusiastic and approachable personality.
- Undertake a DBS check due to the nature of this role.
- Have strong team-working skills.
- Have excellent interpersonal skills.
- Deliver the guest experience in line with all Safeguarding requirements.
- Your contract
You’ll join us on a Fixed Term basis, from mid November until 24 December 2026, when Santa’s work is all done for another year!
- Hours will be predominately weekend based, with midweek hours available Christmas week
