Longfellow strives to develop deep and lasting relationships internally within our team and externally with our investors, clients, vendors, and community through a shared vision and our core values: ethical, respectful, passionate and genuine.

Longfellow was founded in 2009 and has grown into a 140+ person organisation and is now one of the largest privately owned operators and developers in science and innovation. The firm has a ~12M square foot global portfolio and development pipeline across several major life science markets in the US and UK (North Carolina; Maryland-Washington D.C.; New York City; San Diego; San Francisco Bay Area; and Cambridge, UK), with additional offices in Chicago, Boston and London. Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Investment Associate or Associate Director, depending on experience, to join our London team. This individual will play a key role in underwriting, market analysis, transaction execution, and advancing internal investment decision-making across UK acquisitions and development opportunities. The role is ideal for a self-starter who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment, can manage multiple workstreams and stakeholders, and is eager to take ownership in a growing platform.

This position offers a dynamic and hands-on experience across all facets of real estate investment, including financial modelling, pipeline management, deal execution, and collaboration with internal teams such as development, design and construction, asset management, leasing, and operations. The successful candidate will have strong technical acumen, familiarity with JV and financial structures, and the ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Underwrite and analyse core, value-add, and development opportunities, including creating detailed financial models in Excel
  • Prepare business plans for new opportunities in collaboration with wider internal team and external stakeholders
  • Prepare high-quality investment memoranda, presentations, and materials for internal decision-making and Investment Committee review
  • Conduct market research to support underwriting assumptions, evaluate trends in the UK commercial real estate market, and help identify target submarkets and opportunities
  • Collaborate with senior team members across the business on deal sourcing, broker relationships, and pipeline management, ensuring timely tracking and reporting of opportunities
  • Manage transaction processes, including due diligence, closing, and coordination with legal, consultants, and internal teams
  • Assess ground-up or redevelopment feasibility and deal structures; collaborate with development teams to validate budgets, schedules, and entitlement risk.
  • Support and interact with other verticals such as leasing and operations to inform investment decision-making and ensure smooth transitions of newly acquired assets
  • Report effectively to senior leadership, managing up by highlighting key deal considerations, critical timelines, and recommended actions
  • Undertake capital partner/investor-facing presentations and strategic materials
  • Provide input on strategic partnerships with academic institutions, funding joint venture structures, financing alternatives, and other capital-related considerations to support strategic investment execution
  • Participate in and contribute to the shaping of Longfellow’s UK investment strategy

Qualifications

  • 8 years of post-graduate experience in commercial real estate acquisitions, investment sales, or capital markets within the UK
  • Strong financial modelling skills and advanced proficiency in Excel (and familiarity with Argus)
  • Familiarity with JV structures, financing mechanisms, and various financial structures
  • Strong business writing and memorandum preparation skills with the ability to summarise complex analyses into concise recommendations
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills with an ability to interact effectively with senior leadership, external partners, and counterparties
  • Proven ability to manage multiple workstreams, prioritise tasks, and thrive in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment
  • Strong technical and analytical acumen with the ability to quickly analyse deals and make well-supported recommendations
  • Ability to work collaboratively across internal functions including investments, leasing, development, design and construction, and operations
  • Self-starter mindset with a strong work ethic, integrity, and enthusiasm for contributing to a growing UK platform
  • Experience in life science or healthcare-related real estate is a plus but not required

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to play a key role within a dynamic paced team based out of our London office
  • Title and responsibilities commensurate with experience, with a clear path for advancement within Longfellow’s growing UK platform
  • Exposure to high-impact real estate transactions and collaboration with senior leadership
  • Competitive compensation and benefits package aligned with experience
