About the Role
We are looking for a commercially minded Legal Counsel to join our in-house legal team in London.
This is a broad, hands-on generalist role suited to a lawyer who enjoys working close to the business in a fast-paced, international scale-up environment.
You will lead on general corporate and commercial matters alongside supporting M&A and corporate transactions, partnering closely with the General Counsel and stakeholders across our global operations.
What You Will Do
- Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts, including client engagement terms, master service agreements, supplier and vendor agreements, and NDAs.
- Advise on corporate governance matters, including entity management and board support across the group structure.
- Support M&A transactions and corporate development activity, including due diligence, drafting and negotiating transaction documents, and coordinating with external counsel and advisors across jurisdictions.
- Provide day-to-day legal support on employment matters across multiple jurisdictions.
- Support compliance and risk management initiatives, including data protection, anti-bribery and Code of Conduct implementation.
- Contribute to horizon-scanning on legal and regulatory developments relevant to the business.
- Own contract management and build innovative, technology and AI-enabled solutions to manage routine, business-as-usual work quickly and efficiently, enabling the business to self-serve where appropriate.
- Manage relationships with external counsel, ensuring efficient and cost-effective delivery of legal services.
- Provide support on strategic projects as the legal function and wider business continue to grow.
- What You Will Need
- Circa 2-5 years' PQE - this is a guide rather than a strict cut-off, and we welcome applications from candidates whose experience is a strong fit even if slightly outside this range.
- Qualified in England & Wales or another jurisdiction; foreign-qualified lawyers are encouraged to apply.
- Solid grounding in M&A and general corporate/commercial law, gained in private practice, in-house, or a combination of both.
- Comfortable working autonomously within a lean legal team, with good judgement on when to escalat.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to translate legal risk into practical, commercial advice.
- Experience working across multiple jurisdictions or with international stakeholders is an advantage.
- Genuinely curious about legal technology and AI, with an interest in using them to build smarter, more efficient ways of working.
- A genuine interest in sustainability, ESG or the built environment is a plus, though not essential.
- Pragmatic and solutions-oriented, with a hands-on approach and the confidence to make sound judgement calls in a lean team.
- Strong relationship-builder, able to earn trust and influence stakeholders at all levels of the business.
- Resilient and adaptable, comfortable operating with ambiguity in a fast-moving, growing organisation.
- High attention to detail, balanced with commercial pragmatism about what the business actually needs.
