A medical receptionist is the primary representative of our GP Practice. A medical receptionist will need to be capable of handling stressful situations at any given time in order to serve the patients. We require someone who can join our team and bring with them the above skills that will enhance the care we provide to our patients. Our patients are our forefront and we want them to have a positive experience when they access health care provided by the surgery. Main duties of the job

  • You will be responsible for the general administrative and reception duties within the Practice and work with our established processes, policies and procedures to provide a high-quality service and deal efficiently and courteously with patient enquiries.
  • Your regular duties in this role will be dealing with telephone, face to face and electronic enquiries, booking and/or amending patient appointments, contacting patients to provide information from the clinical team and assisting patients to access our services and those available in the wider community.

About us

This is a small friendly practice with over 9000 patients. We are made up of 2 practice nurses, 1 HCA, 1 Partner GP, 3 salaried GPs, and an ANP, 1 Paramedic, 1 Clinical Pharmacist and a team of reception/admin. Managers and the GPs have an open door policy which supports all the workforce throughout the day.

Job responsibilities

  • Receiving patients, consulting with members of the practice team.
  • Processing personal and telephone requests for appointments, telephone consultations and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional.
  • Register new patients, checking all details for accuracy and enter on computer registration link.
  • Taking messages and passing on information.
  • Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team members and associated healthcare agencies and providers.

  • Experience of working in primary care.
