We work closely with a fantastic special school based in the South of Bath that are looking for a Year 9 SEMH Teaching Assistant to join them from September. The school look after students with Social, Emotional & Mental Health Needs (SEMH). The school are part of a well-respected trust that are going from strength to strength. We have had a number of staff join the school permanently over the year who are so positive about the wonderful team there.
The role of TA will be heavily revolved around supporting the class teacher with whatever they need. There is a lot of 1-1 support with students who may be struggling, and you will be expected to be proactive in your approach. You will be supporting in a variety of different Year 9 classes. Due to the needs of the students, it is important you feel confident in working with challenging behaviour. Ideally, you would have worked in a similar setting before, but they are open to mainstream TAs applying that want to make the switch to special school work.
