We are working on behalf of a fantastic special school in Cheltenham that is looking for an Early Years SEMH Teaching Assistant to join the team in either a full-time or part-time capacity. The school is a unique setting that looks after students aged 2-10 years old who have a range of special needs, primarily focused around Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH). The school is well established in the area and has operated in Cheltenham for a while now. It's a challenging environment to work in due to the needs of the students, but that also makes the work more rewarding. They are a wonderful school, and I have always received good feedback from candidates placed there.
The role requires you to be proactive, flexible, adaptable, enthusiastic, positive, and patient. Due to the needs of the students, it is essential that you feel confident in dealing with challenging behaviour and have worked with SEN/SEMH before, preferably within a school or nursery setting. The role of Early Years SEMH Teaching Assistant is varied; you will be expected to fill in wherever necessary, typically providing general support within the classroom. You will work closely with other members of staff, so being a natural team player is beneficial.
