Year 2 Class Teacher Maternity Cover (Terms 1 & 2 min.) Full-Time (planning & marking) Bristol (West) September Start.

At Long-term teachers, we are working closely with a special school in the West of Bristol. They have a teacher leaving for maternity towards the start of Term 1 and will require cover for her until Christmas. This is the very minimum though and there is a high chance of the placement being extended either with this class or somewhere else within the school. This brilliant school looks after a range of special needs but primarily focuses around SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs) & ASD. The school has recently gone through some fantastic changes so it's a lovely time to join the team.

The Role

This role is a full class teacher role so you will be expected to plan and mark your own lessons with adequate PPA time provided so that you don't have to take your work home with you! You will be supported by a couple of TA's in your class (8 students). As mentioned previously, this is a maternity cover post so initially the booking will be up until Christmas but there is a high chance of being extended at the school.

You will be expected to:

  • Hold a QTS (preferable)
  • Have experience of working with SEMH/ASD
  • Naturally be positive, patient and enthusiastic
  • Feel confident in dealing with challenging behaviour
  • Be a natural leader in helping develop your TA's
