Long-term Teachers are proud to be supporting a brilliant special school based on the outskirts of North Bristol that are looking for new support staff to join the team from September. The school look after a wide range of special needs & disabilities aged 2-19, this is split across 3 different sites (Primary, Secondary & Post 16). Often the needs of these students will be complex and physical rather than behavioural. The school are looking for strong support staff at all three of their sites from September, ideally on a full-time basis. The school are incredibly well respected in the area having also secured a recent rating of ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted. The school are open to different applications but you must have experience of working with special needs & disabilities in some capacity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the teacher to plan, prepare, and deliver fun and engaging classes.
  • Help provide a nurturing and supportive classroom environment.
  • Support the class teacher wherever necessary, providing regular feedback.
  • Collaborate with LSA's, parents, and external stakeholders to promote student welfare and achievement.
  • Contribute to the wider school community through extracurricular activities and events.

Requirements:

  • Ideally experience working in a special school.
  • Experience working with SEND.
  • Strong understanding of the needs of children with SEND.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for SEND and a commitment to continuous professional development.
