Ready to take learning beyond the classroom walls? This is your chance to support young people outside the traditional school setting — helping them thrive in the real world through adventure, nature, and hands-on experiences.
A specialist school in Exeter is on the lookout for a full-time Outdoor Learning Mentor. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity where you’ll be supporting students aged 5–16 who have been excluded from mainstream education and often face challenges including SEMH, SEN, or EHCPs.
Our approach is different — small class sizes, 1:1 support, and a strong focus on Learning Outside the Classroom (LOTC). Think beaches, woodlands, trampoline parks, aquariums — learning that re-engages students and gives them purpose.
Requirements for the role:
- Experience in care, youth work, sports coaching, outdoor education, or SEN/mainstream schools
- A full UK driving licence, your own car, and business insurance – you’ll be transporting students to and from activities, so this is absolutely essential
- A love for the outdoors and a passion for helping young people reconnect with learning
- Resilience, empathy, and the ability to build strong, positive relationships
