EYFS SEN Teaching Assistant

Hours: Monday–Friday, school hours
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
About the Role
We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic and dedicated EYFS SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive education setting in or around Newton Abbot. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about working with young children and supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and wider support team to provide nurturing, personalised support that enables every child to feel safe, included and able to achieve their potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to children within EYFS.
- Support children with additional needs, including communication, social, emotional and developmental needs.
- Assist with learning activities, play-based learning and the EYFS curriculum.
- Encourage children's confidence, independence and social development.
- Use appropriate strategies and resources to support individual learning needs.
- Help create a calm, positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals.
- Support children's wellbeing, personal care and development where required.
- Maintain a strong focus on safeguarding and the welfare of every child.
The Ideal Candidate
- Warm, patient and genuinely passionate about working with young children.
- Experienced in EYFS, childcare, education or SEN support.
- Confident supporting children with additional needs.
- Calm, resilient and able to build positive relationships.
- A strong communicator and team player.
- Reliable, flexible and available to start ASAP.
- Committed to safeguarding and promoting children's wellbeing.
- Relevant qualifications or previous experience in EYFS, SEN, childcare, teaching assistance or early years education would be highly desirable.
