SEN Secondary Teacher – Tavistock – £32,916 - £51,048 + SEN allowance – Permanent, Full-time contract – Start January 2026

Make a real difference in the lives of learners with complex needs. We’re looking for a passionate, experienced Secondary Teacher who is ready to take on a rewarding role supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including those facing anxiety-related barriers to learning. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in both in-school and outreach settings, offering creative, tailored teaching and building strong relationships with learners, families, and professionals across Cornwall.

What the role consists of:

  • Delivering personalised, flexible curriculum packages linked to EHCP outcomes
  • Supporting pupils’ emotional wellbeing and holistic development
  • Leading and mentoring support staff within your team
  • Playing an active role in curriculum design and staff training within the wider Trust

What we are looking for:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – this role is not open to ECTs
  • Solid experience teaching within a secondary school setting
  • Excellent communication and ICT skills
  • A sensitive, flexible approach to working with learners with SEN, SEMH, and communication challenges
  • Willingness to work across various settings and key stages

Bonus Skills:

  • Additional training in Special Education, SEMH, or Autism
  • A subject specialism in Maths or Science
  • Experience working with EHCPs and inclusive classroom strategies
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed or attachment-aware practices
