A Primary School in the BS34 area of South Gloucestershire is seeking a Teaching Assistant to work 1 to 1 with a pupil with SEMH needs. This 2 form entry Primary School works relentlessly and creatively in partnership with parents and carers to equip and educate pupils with the knowledge, skills and understanding for endless opportunities in learning and life.

The Role

  • You will have the opportunity to work closely with the SENDCo and Class Teacher to support a Pupil within a KS2 classroom.
  • The Head Teacher is looking for a candidate who has excellent communication skills, someone with prior experience working with SEMH children and has a positive but flexible approach.
  • Strong behaviour management and the ability to set expectations are essential.
  • You will be expected to:
    • Work collaboratively with the class teacher to assess development.
    • Work 1 to 1 with children with SEMH and Challenging Behaviour.
    • Have high expectations for the individual to succeed.
    • Create a stimulating and purposeful environment.
    • Be flexible and adapt activities based on the pupils' needs and emotional feelings.
    • Assess and communicate the individuals’ successes and developments.
