Pay Scale: M1 – UPS3

The Role

We are seeking a talented, creative and innovative Subject Lead of RSE (within PSHE) to join a thriving Humanities team in a well-established secondary setting. This is a fixed-term maternity cover role offering the opportunity to step into leadership while making a significant impact on the delivery of PSHE and RSE at Key Stage 3 and 4.

As Subject Lead, you will:

  • Deliver engaging and meaningful PSHE and RSE lessons that equip students with knowledge, confidence, and life skills.
  • Lead on the vision and development of RSE provision within the Humanities faculty.
  • Inspire colleagues through specialist subject knowledge, coaching, and the sharing of best practice.
  • Support the school’s wider goals by contributing to curriculum planning and strategic development.

This post is suitable for both experienced teachers and ambitious Early Career Teachers (ECTs) who are ready to take on responsibility.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with strong knowledge of PSHE and RSE.
  • The ability to think critically about pedagogy and subject-specific approaches.
  • Ambition for both students and personal professional growth.
  • An evidence-based approach, using research to develop their own practice and support colleagues.
  • Flexibility in pedagogy, adapting teaching methods to suit different contexts and learners.
  • A clear understanding of misconceptions and barriers to learning, especially for SEND pupils and disadvantaged learners, with strategies to overcome them.
  • Confidence in embracing new technologies – all staff and students are provided with iPads, and innovation in digital learning is strongly encouraged.
