Long-term teachers are working closely with a fantastic special school based in Bristol that are looking for someone to provide support as an LSA on a full-time basis. The school looks after students with special needs & disabilities but are primarily focused around ASD & SEMH (all students at the school have an EHCP). They are a brilliant school that are very proud of the work they do there and have a team of staff who are all incredibly supportive of each other. The school is split into 2 and they require someone at their primary site.
The role
The role would be providing mostly general classroom support as well as some 1-1 work. Support isn't limited to just the classroom so being flexible is essential. Due to the needs of the students, you must feel confident dealing with challenging behaviour and have a naturally calm demeanour.
You will be expected to:
- Be adaptable and flexible around the needs of the pupils.
- Have experience of working with SEMH/ASD in some capacity.
- Feel confident in dealing with challenging behaviour.
- Provide the classroom teacher with whatever support they need.
