A long-term teacher is required to work closely with a brilliant special school in the Bath area. The school looks after students with a range of special needs, primarily focused on students with Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs (SEMH) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). They are looking for a Year 4 Class Teacher to lead a class of 8 students, supported by 2 teaching assistants (TAs).

This role has full teaching responsibilities, including planning and marking lessons, with adequate time provided for PPA (no students are in on Friday afternoons). It is essential to have experience working with SEMH or ASD students, as they will require someone confident in dealing with challenging behaviour.

You will be expected to:

  • Have confidence in leading your TAs and help develop their skillsets
  • Plan and mark your own lessons
  • Deescalate challenging situations
  • Get involved in all aspects of school life
