We are working closely with a fantastic special school based on the outskirts of Bath that is looking for an HLTA to join the team in providing support across the school. The school looks after a range of special needs but is primarily an SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) environment. We have three candidates currently working in the school on a full-time/long-term basis, who have provided positive feedback about their experience and the support they feel.

The role

The role of HLTA is incredibly varied. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading pre-planned lessons
  • Providing general classroom support as a TA

You will essentially be used as the school's all-rounder! Due to the nature of the role, it is essential you are adaptable, proactive, confident, enthusiastic, and feel comfortable leading classes. As the needs of the students are SEMH, it is crucial that you are confident in dealing with challenging behaviour and have experience working with special needs in some capacity.

The role is suitable for a range of different candidates:

  • Experienced TAs
  • Unqualified teachers
  • Overseas teachers (who live in the UK and have UK experience)
