Long Term Futures is seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming SEN school in Telford. This is an exciting opportunity to support children and young people with a range of additional needs, helping them to access education, develop confidence, and achieve their individual goals.
Working as part of a dedicated and experienced team, you will provide tailored support to pupils with a variety of Special Educational Needs, ensuring they feel safe, valued, and empowered to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
About the Role
- Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech & Language Needs, SEMH, and Complex Learning Needs
- Supporting pupils to access learning through personalised interventions and differentiated activities
- Assisting with the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
- Encouraging independence, communication, and social interaction throughout the school day
- Supporting pupils with emotional regulation using positive behaviour management strategies
- Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment
- Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure pupils receive the best possible support
- Monitoring pupil progress and providing regular feedback to teaching staff
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs is desirable
- A good understanding of Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, Speech & Language Needs, or Complex Needs
- Patient, caring, and resilient, with a nurturing approach
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to build positive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries
- Reliable, proactive, and committed to supporting pupils on a long-term basis
- A genuine passion for helping children and young people achieve their full potential
